my point of focus was intentionally on the three heavily pollinated stamen
a beautiful lily captured at my sister-in-laws - she had just had a new baby boy and so had had a lot of flowers and I just couldn't resist a couple of quick shots :-)

Restarting :-)
Well - nearly 2 years down the line and a whole heap of things in my life and the way things are going have changed (all for the best I hasten to add) - real life, new roles and travel intervening for the most with a severe lack of time to blame in all honesty :-)

This was too nice not to put up on here. Mid morning rainstorm in west country next to the Kennet-Avon Canal. It's a female I'm assured by the phd biologist brother :-)

Come on City
Just a quick late nite note in support of NCFC!
Tomorrow, Saturday 28th August, my home team - Norwich City take on Arsenal at Carrow Road with the aim of getting a few more points on the tabel and hopefully breaking Arsenal's unbeaten run!
Come on lads.

Josh Joplin - check them out
When we lived in Atlanta in 1995-96 a bunch of us from Georgia Tech would regularly visit Eddie's Attic in Decatur to see Josh Joplin - its a travesty that they never made it big over here in the UK.
They have a new album out soon and a new website has recently gone up. There's also a sample of a new track parade too.

So Here It Starts.... It has to always start somewhere !
A new blog - so what you all say ?
Well I finally thought I should take the plunge and get "out there". Lets see where this goes and bear with me please whilst I get a feel for it.
I must thank Derek Lowe over at Corante's "in the pipeline" for the inspiration to actually write anything at all.
Procrastination can be a fine thing but in today's world of ever changing technology and continually updated (and growing) information it is almost a necessity!
I will try and post here regularly, but the vagaries of work and family life (two small chaps at home - one of to school for the first time in a couple of weeks) may impinge on updates.
So...What do I want to say? Well, a lot in fact.
I spend all my days..
1) Looking for (usually specific, but also speculative) chemical, biological, medical, drug discovery data, information, papers & patents,
2) Trying to stay up-to-date and make informed decisions on knowledge, content or chemistry/biology data management systems,
3) Reading..And reading...And reading - stuff like scientific journals, novels, data & information management journals and trade papers, computing info and the list goes on....
Over time I'll try and impart some nuggets of info on these, some more facts on just how a inorganic & materials chemistry lecturer ends up "doing" drug discovery, and others interests I wander across.
