A new blog - so what you all say ?
Well I finally thought I should take the plunge and get "out there". Lets see where this goes and bear with me please whilst I get a feel for it.
I must thank Derek Lowe over at Corante's "in the pipeline" for the inspiration to actually write anything at all.
Procrastination can be a fine thing but in today's world of ever changing technology and continually updated (and growing) information it is almost a necessity!
I will try and post here regularly, but the vagaries of work and family life (two small chaps at home - one of to school for the first time in a couple of weeks) may impinge on updates.
So...What do I want to say? Well, a lot in fact.
I spend all my days..
1) Looking for (usually specific, but also speculative) chemical, biological, medical, drug discovery data, information, papers & patents,
2) Trying to stay up-to-date and make informed decisions on knowledge, content or chemistry/biology data management systems,
3) Reading..And reading...And reading - stuff like scientific journals, novels, data & information management journals and trade papers, computing info and the list goes on....
Over time I'll try and impart some nuggets of info on these, some more facts on just how a inorganic & materials chemistry lecturer ends up "doing" drug discovery, and others interests I wander across.
